The Bible is concerned about our spiritual well-being, over our physical health. The physical is temporary, spiritual is eternal. Having stated that, the two however do overlap. How we take care of our bodies affects our ability to function at our best and think at our best, which affects how well we can go about our daily lives. Saying that health is a foundational building block of a Life in Full Excellence seems like a statement of the obvious. A real “no brainer”. Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social wellbeing, independent of and not exclusively the absence of disease. A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22

There are different types of health. The first thing that comes to most people’s minds when they hear the word health is diet and nutrition. Many people will tell you they do not have a “healthy” diet. Or they say I must start eating “healthier”. I agree whole heartedly that proper nutrition is a sure way to lead to a healthier mind and body. A healthy diet however is more than just what we eat. (quality). It is also the frequency of what we eat as well as the quantity. Where we eat, such as in the car, at our desk during work or at a table with friends and family also plays a role in how our body utilized food for improving health.

Our mental and emotional health is a major component of our overall health. Both are affected by our diet and nutrition but also by other factors. We all know that stress can creep into our lives for a short visit or to set up camp and stay a long time. Stress is the body's reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental, and emotional responses. Stress is responsible for over 75% of all general practitioner ‘s medical visits.

There are too many causes of stress to list them all and most of them are unavoidable. In this present day we have opened an entirely new level of stress.
